Stokes was named the ICC Cricketer of the Year after his heroics during England’s first-ever 50-over World Cup win and Test cricket performances, especially his innings in the Ashes win at Headingley.
Cummins, who is the world’s top-ranked Test bowler, was named as the Test Cricketer of the Year after a stunning year where he spearheaded victories over Pakistan and New Zealand and led Australia to retain the Ashes.
Cummins follows on from Steve Smith as an Australian to win the Test Cricketer of the Year, with Smith winning the gong in 2017.
The New South Welshman claimed 59 wickets in 12 Test matches across in the calendar year, well clear of the next best Nathan Lyon on 45.
India’s Rohit Sharma was named men’s ODI Player of the Year, while Marnus Labuschagne won the Emerging Player gong after four centuries in five Tests during the Australian summer.
Australia’s Ellyse Perry scooped the pool with the women’s awards, claiming both women’s Cricketer of the Year and the ODI Cricketer of the Year gongs.
