Sri Lanka have named their 16-member squad for the upcoming T20 International Series against Australia, with the inclusion of three key players.

Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella have all been added to the Sri Lankan squad having been left out of a weaker line-up for the recent tour of Pakistan.

Sri Lanka were forced to select a second-string side in Pakistan due to security concerns, with numerous key players withdrawing, but won the series 3-0.

T20 superstar Lasith Malinga will also return to lead the tourists as skipper, while rookie batsmen Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Oshada Fernando impressed in Pakistan and have been retained.

Sri Lanka will arrive in Australia this weekend and play the Prime Minister’s XI in a T20 match on Thursday in Canberra.

The first T20 of the series is at Adelaide Oval on Sunday 27 October, before matches in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Australia have already named their squad which included Steven Smith and David Warner but not Big Bash League stars such as D’Arcy Short and Chris Lynn.

The T20 World Cup will be played in Australia next year, with less than 12 months to go.
