Masamichi Sato was born on July 9, 1992, in Suzuka, Mie, Japan. The Japanese fighter is 166 cm tall and has a wingspan of 164 cm.

He has competed in the Light Flyweight and Flyweight divisions. He fights from an orthodox position and uses the ring name "Yabuki" as a homage to the manga character Joe Yabuki from Ashita no Joe.

Career

Yabuki began his professional campaign in March 2016 with a first-round TKO victory. He rose to prominence in the Light Flyweight division, capturing the Japanese national title in 2020.

In September 2021, Yabuki achieved a major upset by stopping the unbeaten Kenshiro Teraji in the 10th round to win the WBC Light Flyweight Title. He lost the belt in a direct rematch in March 2022. He regained world champion status in October 2024 by stopping Sivenathi Nontshinga in the ninth round to capture the IBF Light Flyweight Title.

In March 2025, Yabuki moved up to the Flyweight division and became a two-weight world champion. He defeated Angel Ayala via a 12th-round TKO in Tokoname, Japan, to win the IBF Flyweight World Title. He is scheduled to defend his title against Felix Alvarado in December 2025.
