As an amateur boxer, he has represented Tajikistan in a number of international competitions including the World Boxing Championships in 2013 where he lost to Ermek Sakenov. He won silver at the 2014 World Cup of Petroleum Countries.He debuted as a professional boxer in 2015 and he won the WBO Inter-Continental Youth Super Featherweight title. In 2017, he won the IBO Super Featherweight Title after he beat Emanuel Lopez.
He successfully defended his title in August of that year. In 2019, Rakhimov went up against Rofhiwa Maemu, defeating Maemu in a knockout. One of his latest fights was against Sardor Muzaffarov in December 2021.
