Career

Matías began his professional campaign in December 2015. He won his first 15 fights by knockout before suffering his first professional loss to Petros Ananyan in February 2020.

He rebuilt his career and, in February 2023, defeated Jeremias Ponce via corner retirement to win the vacant IBF Light-Welterweight World Title. He successfully defended the title once with a stoppage win over Shohjahon Ergashev.

His championship reign was challenged in a rivalry with Liam Paro in June 2024. Matías lost his title to Paro via unanimous decision, marking his second professional defeat.

Matías returned in 2025 and won the WBC Light-Welterweight title in July 2025 with a majority decision victory over Alberto Puello.
