Ricardo Torres is a Colombian professional boxer. He was born on February 16, 1980 at Magangue, Bolivar, Colombia, and goes by the nickname "Mochuelo". Torres is managed by the owner of the Barranquilla-based firm "Cuadrilatero", Billy Chams. He is the brother of fellow professional boxer, Jose Miguel Torres.

When Torres was a child, he had dreams of being a professional soccer player. However, his father (who practiced boxing back in the seventies) encouraged him to concentrate on boxing instead of soccer.

Torres started went pro in 2001, and had an impassioned streak on his first 28 consecutive fights which were all victorious. That was until he lost via Knockout in a brutal bout with Miguel Angel Cotto in 2005. The WBO Light Welterweight title was at hand when Cotto and Torres fought. Throughout the bout, Torres pretty much had Cotto shaken and knocked down once. However, Cotto still managed to win. After Torres' loss to Cotto, he faced Mike Arnaoutis for the same title, and this time he won the belt through a narrow split decision.

Since gaining the title, Torres has had to defend it three times already. His first defense of the title was against Arturo Morua of Mexico. The bout was held in Atlantico, Colombia and he won via unanimous decision. On his second title defense, he fought off Kendall Holt from the United States of America in September 1, 2007. He won via technical knockout in the eleventh round. However, during his third defense fight, which was still against Kendall Holt, he was defeated via technical knockout 61 seconds into the bout. The battle was held at Las Vegas Nevada, USA, and it was then that Torres lost his championship.

Over the course of his professional career, Torres has had a total of 34 fights. 32 of these fights were wins (28 by knockout) and 2 losses.
