A Vertical Jump or a Vertical Leap, in basketball, is the measure of how high a player can jump vertically.
Being able to jump high vertically is an important skill in basketball as it allows players to dunk, block shots, and grab rebounds.
It is the act of raising up one’s center of gravity in a much higher position vertically with the use of one’s own muscles. This kind of jump measures how high a player in basketball or any other athlete can jump off the ground from standstill position.
Basketball players who are known for the height of their vertical jumps include Michael Jordan and LeBron James. James has a vertical leap height of 44 inches while Jordan had 48 inches.
