Hand-check foul

A Hand Check Foul in basketball refers to a foul that happens when a player uses his hands to make illegal contact with an opponent.

It is also described as the kind of foul that happens when a player uses his hands to prevent or slow down the movement of a player from another team.

It is also sometimes referred to simply as ‘handchecking’.

In general, this foul is called when a player places both hands on a player from the opposing team, blocking their path.

Hand Checking did not start getting called regularly in the NBA until around the 2004-2005 season.

It is somewhat similar to the Reach-in foul.

Hand Check fouls are penalties in the NCAA and high school basketball in the USA as well.

It carries the same penalties as any other personal foul.
