The Minnesota Lynx were an expansion team funded in 1998, and played their first season in 1999. They home is in the Target Center, in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.

The owner of the team is Glen Taylor, who is also the majority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The General Manager is Roger Griffith.

The Lynx have had five coaches in their existence. Brian Agler ran the team from 1999-2002, Heidi VanDerveer (sister of Tara) took over in 2002. Suzie McConnell Serio took the reins from 2003-2006, Carolyn Jenkins was interim coach in 2006, and finally Don Zierden took the reins in 2007.

In their ten seasons to date they have posted a 123-176 record, however with the addition of Lady Vols standout Nikki Anosike this year, the team comprising stars Seimone Augustus from LSU, Lindsay Harding from Duke and Candace Wiggins from Stanford are expected to do great things in the 2008 season.
