The Miami RedHawks men’s basketball team is the team which represents the Miami University at the Mid-American Conference and participates in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division I basketball competition. The team plays its home games at the Millett Hall arena which has a seating capacity of 9,200. The team’s uniform is made up of the colors, red and white.

Presently, the team is coached by Charlie Coles who is into his 11th year as a head coach. The team has taken part in the NCAA Tournament on 17 occasions with a combined record of 6-18. Their very first appearance was in the year 1953 in which they could not get past the first round. In the year 1958, they were ranked fourth in the Regional round but could not get past that stage. They entered their first ever sweet sixteen round in the year 1978.

Coles has compiled till now a record of 142-86 for the MAC Conference while his overall record with Miami is 224-168. He has taken them into three NCAA appearances with one of them taking the team to the sweet sixteen round. He has also led the team into two NIT (National Invitation Tournament) championships.

Major Achievements

The team has appeared for the NCAA Tournament on 17 occasions.

The Hawks have won the Conference regular season title 20 times and the Conference tournament championship 4 times.
