Tyronn Lue is an American professional basketball coach and former National Basketball Association (NBA) player who is currently the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. As a player, he won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, and as a coach, he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA championship in 2016.

Lue is cousins with Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum.

High School and College Career

Lue attended Raytown High School in Raytown, Missouri. He then played college basketball at the University of Nebraska from 1995 to 1998.

There he earned First-team All-Big 12 honors in 1998 and Second-team All-Big 12 in 1997. The university later retired his jersey number 10 in his honor.

Professional Career

Lue was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft and was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He won two NBA championships with the Lakers (2000, and 2001). After he left the Lakers, he played for several other teams including the Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, and Milwaukee Bucks.

After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching. First, he served as an assistant with various teams before becoming the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He led the team to their first NBA championship. He currently serves as the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.
