Don Carlos Allado is a Filipino basketball coach, former professional player, and politician. He has played and coached for the Philippine Basketball Association.

Player Profile and Personal Life

Don Carlos Allado was born on June 10, 1977, in Makati, Philippines. He stands at 198 cm tall and weighs 102 kg. He played as a power forward throughout his basketball career.

Known for his versatility and leadership, Allado earned the nickname "The King Archer" during his collegiate years at De La Salle University.

Allado married GMA-7 actress Maricar de Mesa in 2006. However, the couple separated in early 2014 due to personal reasons.

In July 2012, Allado became embroiled in controversy when he accused the PBA of game-fixing via Twitter following his team's elimination from playoff contention during the Governors' Cup.

His tweets caused significant backlash online and led to a one-conference suspension and a ₱500,000 fine imposed by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.

High School and College Career

Allado attended Burbank High School in California before returning to the Philippines to play college basketball for De La Salle University from 1996 to 1999.

He quickly became a dominant force in the UAAP, leading the Green Archers to back-to-back championships in 1998 and 1999.

During these seasons, he was named UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP), Finals MVP, and was part of the UAAP Mythical Team for three consecutive years (1997-1999).

In addition to his success in the UAAP, Allado also played in the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), where he won championships with Welcoat Paints and earned both Season MVP and Finals MVP honors.

Professional Career

Selected eighth overall by the Alaska Aces in the 1999 PBA Draft, Allado began his professional career with Alaska.

He won two championships with the team: the 2000 All-Filipino Cup and the 2003 Invitational Championship. In 2010, he added another championship to his resume by winning the PBA Philippine Cup with Purefoods.

Allado played for several teams during his PBA career, including Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters, Air21 Express, Barako Bull Energy Cola, Meralco Bolts, and Purefoods Star Hotshots.

He retired on November 25, 2015, after a successful 16-year career.

Throughout his PBA career, Allado was a three-time PBA All-Star (2001, 2003-2004) and was named to the PBA Mythical First Team in 2002 and Mythical Second Team in 2003.

Post-Basketball Career

After retiring from professional basketball in 2015, Allado transitioned into coaching. He served as an assistant coach for the Adamson Falcons until 2022 before joining the UE Red Warriors as an assistant coach.

In addition to his coaching career, Allado entered politics and was elected as a councilor for San Juan City in Metro Manila in 2022.
