High School and College Career
Borchardt attended Eastlake High School in Sammamish, Washington, where he was a standout player. He was ranked as the 63rd best prospect in the 1999 recruiting class.He then played college basketball at Stanford University from 1999 to 2002.
His college career was hampered by injuries, including a stress fracture in his right foot that forced him to redshirt the 2000-01 season. He led the Pac-10 in rebounding and was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team in 2002.
Professional Career
Borchardt was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2002 NBA Draft. He was immediately traded to the Utah Jazz along with Ryan Humphrey for Gordan Giriček and a 2004 second-round pick.Unfortunately, foot injuries continued to plague Borchardt's career.
He missed his entire rookie season due to a broken right foot. He made his NBA debut on November 8, 2003, but played only two seasons with the Jazz.
After his NBA career, Borchardt played professionally in Europe. He spent four seasons with Granada in Spain from 2005 to 2009, followed by a season with ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne in France from 2009 to 2010. His final professional season was with Blancos de Rueda Valladolid in Spain in 2012.
