Keith Booth is an American former professional basketball player and coach who had a brief National Basketball Association career while playing for the Chicago Bulls before transitioning to coaching at the collegiate level.

Player Profile

Keith Eugene Booth was born on October 9, 1974, in Baltimore, Maryland. He stood 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 226 pounds during his playing career.

Booth played as a small forward and wore jersey number 22 during his professional career.

High School and College Career

Booth attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was a standout player. In 1992, he helped lead Dunbar to the High School Basketball National Championship and was named a Second-team Parade All-American in 1993. He was also named Baltimore City and State of Maryland Player of the Year by The Baltimore Sun.

Booth's decision to attend the University of Maryland was significant, as he was the first player from Baltimore City in several years to play for the Terrapins. His commitment helped break a de facto boycott of the university that had been in place by Baltimore high school coaches following NCAA violations under previous coach Bob Wade.

Booth earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors four times, culminating with first-team recognition as a senior in 1997. That same year, he was named a Third-team All-American by both the Associated Press and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Professional Career

Booth was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft. He joined a Bulls team led by Michael Jordan that would go on to win the 1998 NBA Championship. Despite being part of a championship team, Booth saw limited playing time during his rookie season.

After two seasons with the Bulls, Booth played for the Baltimore Bayrunners of the International Basketball League during the 1999-2000 season before his playing career came to an end.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Booth returned to the University of Maryland to complete his degree in criminology and criminal justice, graduating in 2003. In 2004, he joined Gary Williams' coaching staff at his alma mater as an assistant coach.

Booth spent seven seasons as an assistant at Maryland from 2004 to 2011, helping guide the Terrapins to three NCAA Tournament appearances and at least 19 wins each season.

Following his time at Maryland, Booth served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at Loyola University Maryland from 2011 to 2013. He then moved to the men's program at Loyola, working as an assistant coach under G.G. Smith from 2013 to 2018.
