He attended Arthur Hill High School where he was named 1999’s Mr. Basketball of Michigan. Later, he went on to play collegiate basketball for Michigan State University. Together with teammates, Mateen Cleaves and Moris Peterson, Richardson helped the team win the NCAA Championship when he was a freshman in 2000. He also received All-American and All-Big Ten honors.Professional Career
He joined the NBA in the first round of the draft, picked by the Golden State Warriors. In 2002, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In the same year and 2003, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.In June 2007, he was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. He played with the team for a season. From 2008 to 2010, he played for the Phoenix Suns. In 2010, he was traded to the Orlando Magic. In 2012, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. While with the team, he had to undergo surgery on his left knee. He played his final game in the NBA in April 2015.
After his retirement, he played in the Tri-State for BIG3.
