Blab was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft. He played four seasons with the Mavericks, followed by stints with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs during the 1989–1990 season.

Over his NBA career, Blab appeared in 235 games, averaging 2.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game.

After his time in the NBA, Blab played for Basket Napoli in Italy, where he had a standout performance with 31 points and 15 rebounds in a single game, and finished his career with ALBA Berlin in Germany from 1991 to 1993.

National Team Career

Blab was first selected to the West Germany national team for EuroBasket 1983 and played for West Germany at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He helped the national team to a fifth-place finish at EuroBasket 1985.

Later, he represented a unified Germany at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
