Rodney McCray is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He played for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Chicago Bulls. In 1993, he became an NBA Champion while he played for the Bulls.

McCray attended Mount Vernon High School in his hometown. While In his senior year, he received Parade All-American honors.

For college, he played for the University of Louisville. In 1980, he helped the team win the NCAA Championships. In 1983, he was named the Metro Conference Player of the Year.

Professional Career

He joined the NBA in 1983 and was drafted into the league by the Houston Rockets. He was selected 3rd overall in the first round of the draft. He played with the Rockets from 1983 to 1988.

In 1988, he was signed by the Sacramento Kings. That year, he was also named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team. From 1990 to 1992, he played for the Dallas Mavericks. In 1992, he started playing for the Chicago Bulls and he was part of the team that won the NBA Championship. He retired from the NBA in 1993.
