Jalen Marquis Brunson was born on August 31, 1996. His father, Rick Brunson, is a former coach and professional basketball player, who played nine seasons in the NBA. Brunson was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Brunson stands 185 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 86 kg. He is a point guard and shooting guard and he plays right-handed.

He is close friends with fellow New York Knicks player Josh Hart.

High School and College Career

He attended Stevenson High School where he was named a McDonald’s All-American.

He was also named Illinois Mr. Basketball. After high school, he committed to play for Villanova University where he remained from 2015 to 2018.

While there, he helped the team win the NCAA Championship in 2016 and again in 2018. In his final year, he was named the Consensus National Player of the Year.

Professional Career

He declared for the NBA in 2018 and was picked by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was their 33rd overall choice. He joined them in the 2018 Summer League and he signed with the team right after. Brunson debuted in the NBA in October of that year.

In March 2020, it was reported that he had undergone surgery to address a shoulder injury.

In 2022, Brunson signed a four-year deal with the New York Knicks. In 2024, he was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career.
