Mo Bamba became interested in basketball at a young age.
High School and College Career
He attended an all-boys boarding school for his eighth and ninth grades. When he graduated, he attended Westtown School. In 2017, he played in the McDonald’s All-American Game. He was also in the Nike Hoop Summit.
In his senior year, he was one of the top recruits in his school and received a number of offers. Some of the colleges that offered him scholarships include Duke, the University of Texas, and the University of Michigan. He committed to play for Texas.
While in college, he was named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team and the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team.
In 2018, he decided to forgo his remaining three college seasons and declared for the NBA.
Professional Career
He was drafted into the league by the Orlando Magic during the 2018 NBA Draft. At nearly 7 feet and 1 inch tall, he was one of the tallest recruits that year.
He debuted for the Magic in October 2018. In February 2023, he was traded by the Magic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Later, he signed to play for the Philadelphia 76ers in the same year.
