Furkan Korkmaz

Furkan Korkmaz is a professional basketball player from Turkey. He last played in the National Basketball Association for the Philadelphia 76ers. He also played in the NBA G League for the Delaware 87ers/Blue Coats and in 2023, he helped them win the NBA G League Championship.

Furkan Korkmaz was born on July 24, 1997, in Istanbul, Turkey. He stands 201 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 92 kg. He is right-handed and he is a Shooting Guard.

He started playing basketball when he was nine years old and it was for his school team. In addition to his professional career, Korkmaz also played for Turkey internationally.

Early Career

Korkmaz’s early career was spent with Anadolu Efes’ junior team. In 2013, he was promoted to the main team and he played with them from 2013 to 2017. From 2015 to 2017, he helped the Efes win the Turkish Cup. They also won the Turkish SuperCup in 2015.

At the same time, while he was with Anadolu, Korkmaz also played for Pertevniyal and Bandırma BK as a loan.

NBA Career

Korkmaz was drafted into the NBA during the 2016 NBA Draft. He was selected in the 1st round as the 26th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers.

He did not sign with the 76ers until 2017. It was for a two-way contract that also allowed him to play for their NBA G League affiliate team. In 2023, he helped his G League team win the NBA G League Championships.

In 2024, his contract was converted to a standard one. In February 2024, he was traded to the Indiana Pacers but they waived him soon after.
