Huerter was selected with the 19th overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2019.In July 2022, Huerter was traded to the Sacramento Kings. In March 2024, Huerter was diagnosed with a dislocated left shoulder and labral tear, forcing him to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season after undergoing surgery.
