High School and College Career
He attended St. Marcellinus High School in Mississauga, Ontario. Then he moved to the United States to attend Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. While there, he was named the National High School Player of the Year in 2018. He was also named a McDonald’s All-American that year.After high school, he committed to play for Duke University and was there from 2018 to 2019.
At that time, he was named to the First-team All-ACC and the Consensus First-team All-American. He was also given the 2019 Jerry West Award.
Professional Career
He turned pro in 2019 when he was the 3rd overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, selected by the New York Knicks.On October 23, 2019, Barrett made his NBA debut. In 2022, he re-signed with the Knicks to a four-year contract worth US$120 Million.
He became the first player in the franchise to agree to a deal extension following a rookie deal since 1999 when Charlie Ward did it.
