Sue Bird is a professional basketball player who is recently playing for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. Bird is one of the most in-demand basketball players and could join in being one of the greatest WNBA players of all time. During her high school season, she was named the New York State Player of the Year and in college, she was awarded a Naismith Award and a Wade Award.

Suzanne Brigit Bird was born and raised in New York with her parents and her sibling, Jen. Aside from being American, she was also half-Russian and has an Israeli nationality due to her Jewish father. At a young age, she was very invested in sports, such as basketball, tennis, and soccer. She also started to get more involved in basketball when she was in sixth grade. She shared during an interview that her gameplay was so impressive, that a security game couldn't help but ask for her autograph.Career
When she was in high school, she attended Syosset High School but has to transfer to Christ the Kind Regional High School, where their basketball program is more extensive. As a high school basketball player, she earned the New York Daily News Player of the Year and New York State Player of the Year.Her performance in high school only made other universities eye on her and promised her an athletic scholarship, especially Stanford University. However, she decided to settle with the University of Connecticut because it was close to home. During her sophomore season, she led the team to win the Big East Championship.
To give her team more achievements, she became the recipient of the Nancy Lieberman Award and was considered to be one of the top point guards in the USA. She also received the Huskies of Honor recognition.
By the time she joined the 2002 WNBA Draft, she was selected first overall by the Seattle Storm. During her rookie season, she was able to record an average of 14.4 points per game. She became a runner-up for the Rookie of the Year and was included in the All-WNBA First Team.
In 2004, she became one of the significant players that led the Storm to the championship. At the same time, she joined the Olympic US Team and received a gold medal.
In 2012, Bird was having trouble with her injury but managed to play 29 games. During the offseason, she took her time off to undergo a knee surgery that could affect her next season's performance. In 2014, she came back healthy by scoring 10.6 with 4.6 assists per game and was voted WNBA All-Star. After two seasons, she re-signed a contract extension with the Storm.
