LA Lakers centre Dwight Howard has labelled his side’s season a “nightmare” after it came to an end at the hands of a San Antonio Spurs clean sweep in their first round playoff.
The Lakers suffered an injury curse during the season, with star man Kobe Bryant absent for the final weeks of the campaign, while Pau Gasol, Steve Nash and Howard all also had spells on the sidelines.
“[It was] Like a nightmare,” Howard told reporters after his side’s 103-82 Game Four defeat.
“It’s like a bad dream, and we just couldn’t wake up from it. That’s what it felt like.”
Meanwhile, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni, who replaced Mike Brown early in the season, said he was proud of his side’s fight.
“I’m proud of them, because they fought,” D’Antoni said.
“It was kind of a year that was all upside-down, but I appreciate the effort to get us into the playoffs. We just didn’t have it.”
