Many Lakers fans have felt that their team’s game has been held down by Russell Westbrook’s play.
Yes, he helped push the team’s pace but he falls short when it comes to his unreliable outside shooting, plus he has the tendency to commit careless turnovers. He has certainly been more of a bane than a boon for the team.
About two weeks ago, the Lakers finally parted ways with Westbrook and traded him to the Utah Jazz who promptly bought him out and then he was picked up by the LA Clippers.
His presence is expected to give the team a boost and maybe finally make the Kawhi Leonard and Paul George tandem work.
Westbrook may have been lackluster in his career with the Lakers, but during his stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder, he was named the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2017.
He is also a nine-time NBA All-Star, of course, he was not named an All-Star during his Lakers contract.
The UCLA alum was also named the NBA All-Star Game MVP twice. He was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary team.
His declining athleticism may be the reason why he has not performed too well with the Lakers, but there may also be other factors involved.
Only time will tell how well Westbrook is going to perform while with the Lakers.
