Andrew Bogut has not become an Australian basketball legend, and he is about to set foot with his new ownership group: Sydney Kings.
Before the pandemic devastated the world, Bogut had won the 2019 NBL MVP award and led his team to the 2020 Grand Final series.
The 36-year old superstar had announced his retirement before, hoping that his last game would be in the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. But even after his journey as a basketball player, still, he’s ready to take the challenge of becoming a business partner related to basketball.
Paul Smith, the co-owner of the Sydney Kings, is thrilled to have Andrew Bogut with the Kings. He gratefully mentioned that he saw Bogus arrived in 2018 and just by looking at his records, it stands out on its own. To have Bogut as their new business partner is very special and they’re thrilled to begin their business journey together.
Bogut had always desired to move into the business-related side of basketball, as a growing list of former NBL members had also previously joined in too, such as Dante Exum, Kris Middleton, and Al Harrington.
He said in an interview that he is delighted to join the Sydney Kings Ownership group, and he’s looking forward to making the Kings one of the premier basketball franchise in NBL. Even after he retired to the game, something big is still waiting for him in basketball.
Currently, the Sydney Kings is in an intense battle for the final spot in NBL 21 as the league enters its final week.
