South Africa national baseball team
The national baseball team of South Africa is currently ranked 19th in the IBAF world rankings and participates in several regional as well as international baseball tournaments including the All-African Games, and World Baseball Classic.
The team consists of notable players like, Neil Adonis, Clint Alfino, Francisco Alfino, Paul Bell, Jason Cook, Errol Davis among others.
All African Games
South Africa hosted the 1999 All-Africa Games and won the gold medal defeating Lesotho (0-43), Zimbabwe (37-2), Nigeria (19-1), Uganda (0-31) and Ghana (28-3).South Africa also impressed in 2003 in Abuja when they reached the final and defeated Nigeria 15-0 to win the gold medal again.
Olympics
South Africa participated in their first and last Olympic tournament in 2000 when they finished with a record of 1-6, their only win against the Netherlands.World Baseball Classic
In the 2006 WBC, South Africa suffered immensely against other prominent nations like Canada, Mexico and the United States and were knocked out of the tournament.Placed alongside toppers like Mexico, Cuba and Australia in 2009, South Africa again failed to make a mark and finished the tournament with a record of 0-2, with 4 runs scored and 22 conceded.
