The Mexico national baseball team is presently ranked 8th in the IFBA world rankings and the roster includes an equal number of youths and experienced players, their pitching crew being the strongest. The team is governed by the Mexican Federation of Baseball under Pan American Baseball Confederation.

World Baseball Classic

Mexico participated in the 2006 WBC as well as the 2009 WBC. In 2006, they played a total of 6 games, winning against South Africa, Canada and USA and loosing equally against USA, South Korea and Japan in different rounds. In 2009, Mexico won twice against South Africa and Australia but lost once against Australia and South Korea and twice to Cuba, thus failing to make any impression in both installations of the WBC.

Baseball World Cup

Mexico is set to compete in the 2009 Baseball World Cup and is placed in Group A along with Czech Republic, Australia and Chinese Taipei.

Pan American Games

Mexico has won 4 bronze medals in the 4 Pan American Games they have played.

Roster

Some recognized players from the Mexican squad include Luis Ayala of the New York Mets, Jorge De La Rosa of the Milwaukee Brewers, Elmer Dessens of the Kansas City Royals and Esteban Loaiza of the Oakland Athletics.
