In tennis, a Dink is a soft shot hit with little speed or spin.
The goal is to barely clear the net and land the ball short. Players use a dink to catch their opponent off guard or out of position.
To hit a dink, use a short, compact swing with an open racket face.
The ball should float over the net and drop quickly on the other side. Dinks are useful in doubles when both teams are at the net. They can also be effective as drop shots or short angles in singles.
