Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chengdu Open 2020 and 2021 were canceled. It started back up in 2023.

The Chengdu Open was founded in 2016. It replaced the Malaysia Open on the ATP World Tour. The Malaysia Open was held in Kuala Lumpur.The tournament is hosted at the Sichuan International Tennis Center in Chengdu, China. The center has outdoor hard courts.
Notable Players
Some of the more notable players who have played and won the single’s title at the Chengdu Open include Karen Khachanov, Denis Istomin, Bernard Tomic, and Pablo Carreno Busta.Busta won in 2019 by defeating Alexander Bublik.
Doubles winners include Raven Klaasen, Rajeev Ram, Jonathan Erlich, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Ivan Dodig, and Mate Pavic.
In 2024, the winners are Shang Juncheng for singles, and Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul for doubles.
