The Almaty Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in October in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Previously known as the Astana Open, it is played indoors on hard courts.
Established in 2020 in response to the numerous tournament cancellations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was initially held in Astana at the Daulet National Tennis Centre.
The tournament is played indoors on hard courts.
In 2021, the Almaty Open made history by hosting both an ATP and a WTA tournament, marking the first time professional tennis events for both men and women were held in Kazakhstan.
The women’s WTA event was held the week after the men’s ATP tournament. However, the WTA event was discontinued after 2021.
In 2024, the tournament relocated from Astana to Almaty, prompting the name change to the Almaty Open.
It continues to be a significant event on the ATP Tour calendar, providing opportunities for players to compete in Central Asia.
