Patrick Du Pré
Patrick Du Pre used to be a male professional male tennis player for the United States. He was born on September 16, 1954, in Liege, Belgium. He grew up in Mountain Brook, Alabama, and graduated from Mountain Brook High School.
Back in 1972, Du Pre was able to win the national junior singles championship which led him to be ranked on top of both singles and doubles throughout the nation. While he was still at Mountain Brook High School, he was already a three-time Alabama state singles champion. Because of his many achievements, he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1995, which made him the first tennis player ever to be inducted in the said Hall of Fame.
For his college education, Du Pre attended Stanford University and was then known for being an All-American player. He was able to receive the said distinction for four years, as well as in 1973 and 1974. He was also a part of Stanford when the university won the National Collegiate Athletics Association national championships.
While on the professional tour, Du Pre was able to be a semifinalist at Wimbledon, and was even a quarterfinalist at the U.S. Open. His career was essentially quite good as through 1979 to 1981, Du Pre was ranked among the top by landing at the top 20 all over the world. The highest ranking he ever reached was at World No. 12.
Currently retired from playing tennis, Du Pre now serves as a teaching professional as well as a coach for future professional tennis players in Birmingham, Alabama.
