A former tennis player from Romania, Virginia Ruzici was born in Campia, Turzii. She was born on January 31, 1955. She was best known for powerful forehand. She was also a certified right handed tennis player. Ruzici started as an amateur in 1973 and officially started her career as a professional tennis player in 1975.

Although she started as an amateur in 1973 when she joined the Romania Fed Cup Team, she went professional two years after in 1975. She had a good share of titles that she has won for herself in the whole twelve years of professional tennis. The biggest achievement that she had was winning the singles title of the French Open in 1978, beating Mima Jausovec. She and Jausovec also qualified for the finals of the mixed doubles. In that same year, she partnered with Jausovec and won the doubles title in the French Open. She was one of the seven women who reached three finals in one Grand Slam. In 1980, she qualified for the finals and finished second to Chris Evert in the French Open in 1980.

In her professional career, she had a total of 14 singles titles which include the Grand Slam title that she won in 1978. She was one of the admirable tennis players who have shown their talent and capacity in about 12 years of professional matches. She was considered as one of the top twenty world’s greatest tennis players from 1977 to 1983. Ruzici officially retired from her professional career in 1987.
