Christophe Rochus
Christophe Philippe Rochus aka “Rokkon” is a Belgian professional tennis player. He was born on December 15, 1978 to parents Jean-Paul, father who is a doctor, and Anne, mother and a dentist. He is the eldest of three, having two younger brothers named Olivier, who is also a tennis player and a former No. 11 ranked junior, and Pierre. He is unmarried but he has two children named Elena and Arthur. He is currently coached by Ananda Vandendooren.
Rochus turned pro in 1996, however, it was only in 1998 that he first reached his first Challenger final when it was held in Puebla. However, he was not able to win the match as he lost to Voltchkov. It was in 2000 that Rochus reached his best Grand Slam performance ever, lasting until the 4th RD of the Australian Open. That year, he also lost to his brother, Olivier, while playing at his first ATP Semifinals in a tournament that was held in Palermo. The following year, Rochus finished the season as the No. 2 Belgian for the second time in a row.
Last year, 2008, Rochus had recovered from dropping from the top to bouncing back into the Top 100 armed with strong results within the Challenger circuit. For the season, he had a 41-15 record with an additional two titles within the five finals he appeared in.
Over the course of his career playing tennis, Rochus has a career record of 109-186 in singles and a record of 33-60 in doubles. He does not have any career titles to date, and has been appearing in Grand Slam tournaments since 2000. However, he has not yet won a single Grand Slam title.
