He was instrumental in the growth of tennis in the United States and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1969 for his administrative contributions to the sport.

Julian Southall Myrick was born on March 1, 1880, in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, USA. He began his career as an insurance clerk in 1898 and later co-founded his own successful insurance company, Ives and Myrick, in 1906.He was also a delegate for the Republican Party and a supporter of Herbert Hoover. He died in January 1969.
Professional Career
Myrick was a prominent figure in tennis administration. He served as president of the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills from 1915 to 1917.He was a driving force behind the decision to make the club the new venue for the U.S. National Championships. From 1920 to 1922, Myrick served as president of the United States Lawn Tennis Association.
He also promoted the sport's inclusion in schools and colleges and was the first person to deliver a speech on tennis via radio in 1922.
