Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is a Spanish professional tennis player who was born on June 4, 1983 in La Roda, Spain. Garcia-Lopez is a right-handed player who is coached by Diego Dinomo and Jose Luis Aparisi, and is good friends with Juan Carlos Ferrero, a fellow Spanish tennis player. Both of them play at the JC Ferrero Equelite Tennis Academy.
Garcia-Lopez turned pro in 2002, but it took a while before his career really took off. On November 2009, he was able to reach No. 41 after he won the first round during the Austrian Open. Later that year, he also went against Fernando Verdasco and Mikhail Youzhny at the 2009 Western & Southern Financial Group Masters and Women’s Open. However, he was not able to get past Julien Benneteau.
By 2012, Garcia-Lopez played at the Indian Wells. During the tournament, he went against Andy Murray and was able to defeat him in the second round. He also defeated Pablo Andujar at the Mercedes Cup, and was able to reach the quarterfinal round.
Garcia-Lopez has been around for a while and has a career record of 281 victories and 328 losses. He has 5 career titles to his name, although he has not won any Grand Slam titles. He has participated in all four events, although not recently. He is currently ranked at No. 68 as of April 2018, but was ranked at No. 23 as his highest in February 2011. His best performance at a Grand Slam was during the 2016 US Open where he reached the final round.
Garcia-Lopez also has a silver medal in singles and gold medal in doubles during the Mediterranean Games in 2005.
