McCartney Kessler was born on July 8, 1999, in Calhoun, Georgia, United States of America. Both of her parents, Carl and Julie Kessler, played collegiate tennis at the University of Central Florida. She has an older sister, Mackenzie Kessler, and an older brother, McClain Kessler, who also played college tennis.Kessler attended Calhoun High School and later played collegiate tennis for the Florida Gators, where she became a three-time All-American and was named 2022 SEC Player of the Year.
Junior Career
Kessler won the U16 doubles title at the Orange Bowl with Emma Kurtz in 2015, marking her as a promising junior talent.Career
Kessler turned professional in 2022 after a decorated college career. She made her WTA Tour debut at the Auckland Open in 2024 and earned her first Grand Slam main draw win at the Australian Open that same year.In August 2024, she claimed her maiden WTA Tour singles title at Tennis in the Land (Cleveland), defeating Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final. She followed up with a second title at the 2025 Hobart International, overcoming Elise Mertens in the championship match.
Kessler has also reached the final at the ATX Open and was runner-up in doubles at the same event with Zhang Shuai.
She broke into the top 50 in January 2025 and recorded her first top-10 win over Coco Gauff at the Dubai Championships.
