Aleksandra Wozniak is a Canadian former professional tennis player who achieved a career-best ranking of World No. 21, making her the fifth highest-ranked Canadian singles player of all time.

She won one WTA singles title, becoming the first Canadian in 20 years to do so, and was named Tennis Canada's Female Player of the Year five times.

Aleksandra Wozniak was born on September 7, 1987, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She stands 175 cm tall and she plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand. Her family immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1983.

Wozniak speaks Polish, English, and French fluently. She has an elder sister, Dorota, who also played tennis. Inspired by her sister and her idol, Monica Seles, Wozniak began playing tennis at the age of three and was coached by her father, Antoni.

Early Life and Junior Career

As a junior, Wozniak had a very successful career, reaching a career-high world singles ranking of No. 3 in January 2005. She won several junior tournaments, including the Canadian Indoors Under-16 and Under-18 championships in 2002.

Professional Career

Wozniak turned professional in November 2005. She won one singles title on the WTA Tour, capturing the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford in 2008. In doing so, she became the first Canadian in 20 years to win a WTA singles title and the first Quebecer in history to accomplish such a feat.

She reached her career-high singles ranking of World No. 21 in June 2009. Her best singles result at a major tournament was reaching the fourth round of the French Open in 2009, a run that made her the first Canadian in over 10 years to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam. Wozniak was also an accomplished doubles player on the ITF Circuit, winning 11 titles.

Wozniak was a long-time member of Canada's Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed Cup) team, with a record of 40 wins and 12 losses. She was named Female Player of the Year by Tennis Canada five times (2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2012). Wozniak retired from professional tennis in December 2018.
