Christopher O’Connell was born on June 3, 1994, in Sydney, Australia. He stands 183 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 78 kg. He is right-handed with a one-handed backhand. He is coached by Marinko Matisevic and since he turned pro, he has earned around US$ 2 million in prize money.
Career
O’Connell turned pro in 2011 but he did not make his Grand Slam main draw debut until 2017 when he was in the opening round of the Australian Open. After that, he missed out on the Grand Slams and the majors until 2020 when he was again in the opening round of the Aussie Open.
In 2020 he was also in the main draw of the Miami Open and he made it to the second round of the US Open. The following year, he was in the second round in Australia and the opening rounds of the French Open and Wimbledon.
In 2022, he was in the third round of the men’s singles event in the Australian Open and the third round of the men’s doubles.
In 2023, he appeared in the main draws of all the grand slams and he was also in the main draw of the Miami Open, Madrid Open, and the Italian Open.
