Salvatore Caruso is a professional tennis player who was born and raised in Avola, Italy. He is currently ranked as World Number 76 as of November 2020, but his ranking went down to Number 166 as of January 2022. Caruso had 5 ITF Futures singles and 2 ATP Challenger singles titles.
Professional Career
Caruso debuted at Masters 1000 at the 2016 Italian Open, but he was lost to the first round to Nick Kyrgios. During the 2019 French Open, he won his first-ever Grand Slam tournament. He also recorded his win during the Umag Open as he won against Borna Coric.
2020 is not an impressive season for him, but he managed to reach the third round at the US Open. However, he lost to Andrey Rublev during the fourth round. He participated in the Italian Open but again lost to Novak Djokovic.
During the 2022 Australian Open, he lost during the final round of the qualifying stage. However, he was one of the lucky losers to replace Novak Djokovic as the World Number 1 player who has been deported from Australia.
