Gombos, nicknamed “Gombi”, was born on August 13, 1990, in Galanta, in Slovakia. He stands 193 cm tall and his last listed weight is 85 kg. A right-handed player, Gombos has a two-handed backhand. He turned pro in 2009 and is coached by Tibor Toth.He speaks Hungarian, Slovak, and English fluently. He started playing tennis when he was 8 years old. Career
In 2014, he represented his country in the Davis Cup and he defeated Dominic Thiem in the opening. In 2017, he made it to the first round of Wimbledon. He also made his first ATP World Tour quarter-finals in Marseille.Before the end of 2017, he broke into the Top 100 of the ATP rankings. He reached his career-high ranking of No.80 in October.
Tournaments he has played include Indian Wells, Miami Open, Canadian Open, Paris Masters, and the Cincinnati Masters. He has also played in the Monet-Carlo Masters as well.
