Kristína Kučová is a Slovak professional tennis player, whose career-high ranking is at World Number 71 as of September 2016. Meanwhile, she ranked World Number 112 as of September 2021. During her entire career, she had won one singles title on WTA Challenger Tour, while she won 11 singles titles and 5 doubles titles for the ITF World Tour. As a junior player, she had successfully reached World Number 3 due to winning the 2007 US Open juniors division.

Early Career

During the 2007 US Open, she managed to defeat top-seeded Julia Glushko, reigning champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Urszula Radwańska. Her successful win at the US Open, earned her to reach the 2007 Wimbledon Championships and 2007 French Open. During the French Open, she partnered with Klaudia Boczova but was defeated by Ksenia Milevskaya and Urszula Radwańska.

Making Through the Top 100

It took Kucova a couple of years to be included in the Top 100. Even though she failed to proceed in the Australian Open when she lost to Wang Yafan, still her gameplay during the Kuala Lumpur Open drastically improved as she made it through the semifinals. She was also able to compete for the Rogers Cup, as she defeated top-seeded players, such as Christina McHale, Erin Routliffe, and Yanina Wickmayer. She also participated during the WTA Premier-level and made it through the quarterfinals, however, she failed to proceed to the next round when she was defeated by Johanna Konta.

Current Status of Kucova’s Career

Kucova managed to join the Miami Open, where she had to face the current World Number One, Ashleigh Barty. However, she lost the match while Barty continued to defend her title in the Miami Open.
