Gerald Melzer
Gerald Melzer is an Austrian tennis player, who plays for both singles and doubles divisions. His highest rank was in World Number 68 as of November 2016. Melzer was born in Vienna, Austria, but his family transferred to reside in Linz. He also had a tennis player brother named Jurgen Melzer, or popularly nicknamed Mini Melts. He is the son of the Deutsch-Wagram mayor, Rudolf Melzer.
His Partnership with Jurgen Melzer
Melzer spent most of his tennis career competing on the Futures circuit, while he is also playing both singles and doubles events with Jurgen. In 2007, Melzer has been seen playing throughout Austria as well as in the Futures tournaments in Africa.Playing with his brother seemed to be an advantage for him because his success rate was higher when he is partnered with his brother. In 2015, they have the chance to encounter each other during the Wimbledon qualifying round, however, he got lost to Jurgen. Jurgen mentioned in his interview that playing against his brother is the worst tournament of his life, and he hopes that he would never play against his brother again.
Professional Career
Melzer participated in the 2017 Australian Open, however, he unsuccessfully made it through the first round against Alex de Minaur. Even though they had to compete in the fourth set, still he was unable to close the match in succession. He is also part of the Austrian Davis Cup Team, where he had 6 losses and 4 wins,Achievements:
