Masur was born in Southampton in England on May 13, 1963. He and his family later moved to Australia and he has Australian citizenship. He stands 180 centimeters tall and his last listed weight is 76 kilograms. Coached by Gavin Hooper, he has reported total earnings of around $3.1 Million.

He started playing tennis when he was 14 years old. Aside from tennis, he enjoys spending time at the beach and he also takes an interest in Architecture. His father is in the construction business.

Professional Career

Before turning pro, Wally won the 1981 Australian Open Junior Championships. In 1982, he turned pro. Some of his top finishes as a professional tennis player include his semi-finals finish at the 1987 Australian Open. He also made it to the semi-finals of the US Open in 1993. As a singles player, he has made it to the fourth round of Wimbledon three times, 1988, 1992, and 1993.

In addition to his singles career, Masur has also had a great Doubles career. He made it to the semi-finals of Roland Garros in 1988 and again in 1992. He also made it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open in 1993. For Wimbledon, he made it to the Quarterfinals in 1988 and 1992.

In the US Open, he has made it to the second-round multiple times. Including 1984, 1987, 1988, 1990, and 1993.

Retirement

Walley retired from professional tennis in 1995. 20 years later in 2015, he was named the captain for the Australian Davis Cup team.
