He grew up in Southwest London and attended King’s College School. Later, he trained under Jeremy Bates and played college tennis for the University of Memphis.

He has worked with coaches Justin Sherring, David O’Hare, and Louis Cayer. Since he turned pro in 2014, he has earned more than US$4 million in prize money.

Career

Since Joe Salisbury’s entered the professional tennis world, he won five Grand Slams in men’s doubles and mixed doubles. These major titles are the 2020 Australian Open, 2021 US Open, 2021 French Open, 2021 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2022 US Open.

He has also won the 2022 ATP Tour Finals in men’s doubles.

Salisbury earned his first ATP doubles title at the Shenzhen Open, playing doubles with Ben McLachlan. The first major title that he won was in the 2020 Australian Open alongside Rajeev Ram. They were able to defeat Max Purcell and Luke Savile in the final round.

This major win earned him the ranking of World No. 3. During the French Open, he won his second major title in mixed doubles. He partnered with Desirae Krawczyk.

In the US Open in 2021, he teamed up with Ram again and defeated Purcell and Matthew Ebden in the final rounds after a three-hour match in the quarterfinals. During the final event, Salisbury and Ram won the men’s doubles championship. They defeated Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares.

Winning this major event earned him the status of World No. 3 in doubles for the ATP rankings.

Another addition to Salisbury’s major title was winning his second mixed-doubles Grand Slam title. Together with Krawczyk, the pair defeated Marcelo Arevalo and Giuliana Olmos at the US Open in straight sets.

He was able to set a record by winning two major titles in the US Open doubles and mixed events.

Salisbury rose to the top of the World Rankings in April 2022. In the same year, he won his 5th Grand Slam at the US Open alongside Ram.
