Marc Lopez
Marc Tarres Lopez is a professional tennis player who played under the ATP, Grand Slam and the Olympics. He hails from Barcelona Spain and comes with a career-high doubles ranking of number 3 in the world and a singles career-high ranking of number 106. His 3rd place ranking was achieved on January 203 while his career-high singles ranking was achieved on May 2004.
The 5-foot-9-inch Lopez made his professional debut in 1999 and started playing under the ATP in 2001. His performance during the first few years of his professional career did not create any remarkable change in his rankings. It was in 2004 when he started to win several doubles titles, which led him to qualify for the final round of the Open de Tenis Comunidad Valenciana. This was with a partner and fellow countryman, Feliciano Lopez. By 2008, he made his debut in the ATP main draw.
It was from 2010 to 2013 when Lopez made impressive achievements in his doubles ranking and entire tennis career. He won three doubles titles while partnering with Rafael Nadal and Marcel Granollers. These titles included the Masters 1000 at Indian Wells. By 2012, Lopez and Nadal won again the final round of the Masters 1000 at Indian Wells. He and Granollers also won the Maters 1000 held in Rome. These performances made him rose to 3rd place in the doubles ranking at the start of 2013.
From 2014 to 2017, Lopez continued to win doubles tournaments with both Rafael Nadal and Marcel Granollers. In 2014, he and Granollers were able to reach two Grand Slam finals, which included the US Open and the French Open. By 2015, they reached the Masters 1000 final but were unsuccessful in taking home to win. In 2016, he partnered with fellow countryman, Feliciano Lopez and won his first major during the French Open. It was also this year when he partnered again with Rafael Nadal and won the gold medal in the Rio Olympics. His latest match happened in 2021 Wimbledon wherein he reached the 1st round in the mixed doubles category
