Jack Alexander Draper was born on December 22, 2001, in Sutton, London, United Kingdom.He grew up in Ashtead, Surrey, and attended Parkside School and Reed’s School during his early years. His father, Roger Draper, is a former Chief Executive of Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association, while his mother, Nicky Draper, was a junior British tennis champion.
Draper stands 193 cm tall and plays left-handed with a two-handed backhand.
He is coached by James Trotman as part of the LTA's Elite Players support program. Off the court, Draper supports Manchester United F.C., enjoys rap and grime music, and shares a flat with fellow British tennis player [[Paul Jubb].
Junior Career
Draper started playing tennis when he was four years old.In 2018, he reached the junior Wimbledon final but lost to Tseng Chun-hsin in three sets. He finished the year ranked World No. 7 in juniors.
Professional Career
Draper turned professional in late 2018 and initially competed on the ITF and Challenger circuits.He made his ATP debut as a wildcard at the Miami Open in March 2021 but retired due to heat exhaustion during his first-round match. Later that year at Queen’s Club Championships, he secured wins over Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik to reach his first ATP quarterfinal.
At Wimbledon in June 2021, Draper made his Grand Slam debut against Novak Djokovic in the first round and won the opening set before losing in four sets.
Draper’s breakthrough came in early 2022 when he won three consecutive Challenger titles at the Forlì Challenger and the Open Saint-Brieuc. He made his top-100 debut that June after reaching his first ATP semifinal at the Eastbourne International.
Later that year at the Canadian Open, Draper defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas for his first top-10 win en route to his maiden Masters quarterfinal appearance. At the US Open, he reached the third round after defeating Félix Auger-Aliassime but retired against Karen Khachanov in the fourth round due to injury.
In November 2023 at Sofia Open, Draper reached his first ATP final but lost to Adrian Mannarino in three sets.
Draper won his maiden ATP title at the Stuttgart Open in June 2024 after defeating Matteo Berrettini in the final. Later that year at the US Open, he reached his first Grand Slam semifinal by defeating Alex de Minaur before falling to Jannik Sinner.
In March 2025 at Indian Wells Masters, Draper claimed his first Masters title by defeating Holger Rune in straight sets after notable wins over Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz earlier in the tournament.
This victory propelled him into the top six of ATP rankings, a career-high for him.
