Petros Tsitsipas
Pertros Tsitsipas is a professional tennis player from Athens, Greece. The 6-foot young athlete comes with a career-high ATP doubles ranking of number 299 and number 745 in the singles division. The ranking in both divisions were achieved on July 19, 2021. In addition, he is known as the younger brother of the professional tennis player, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Petros and his brother Stefanos played together during the Australian Open 2021 and received a wildcard to join the main draw. Their next tournaments were the Open 13 and Rotterdam Open where they again won wildcards for the main draw, but eventually lost during the first and second round respectively.
It was during the Open 13 in 2021 when Petros made his debut in the ATP singles. He made it the event’s main draw through a wildcard but lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina after 45 minutes of play in the first round.
During the Monte-Carlo Masters of 2021, Petros and Stefanos received another wildcard to play in the Masters 1000. This tournament was part of the 2021 Mutua Madrid Open. Though they qualified through a wildcard, they lost during the first round. In the Italian Open, both brothers served as alternates but lost again in the first round. Due to another wildcard, Petros and his brother qualified for the ATP Lyon Open. They also lost the first-round match. This was their fifth loss after only joining a total of seven tournaments.
What made Petros and Stefano’s tennis professional career interesting was their collection of wildcards. In 2021 alone, they have made it to major tournaments by using a total of 8 wildcards. The seventh was used during Wimbledon Championships while the eighth was during the Hamburg European Open. During the two tournaments, Petros and his brother lost in the first round.
Under the ATP Challenger and Futures Finals, Petros won a total of 3 doubles matches from 2020-2021. These were when he did play with his brother.
