Career

As a junior player, she won the Australian Open girl’s junior title after defeating Laura Robson. She made her Grand Slam main draw debut as a senior player in 2012 when she appeared in the opening rounds of the French Open and Wimbledon.

In 2016, she reached her first Grand Slam final at the US Open where she was defeated by Angelique Kerber. The following year, she made it to the quarterfinals of both the Australian Open and the US Open. She was also in the semis of the French Open. She reached her all-time high ranking of world no.1 after making it to the semifinals at the All-England Club grand slam.

She reached her second final finish in 2021 when at Wimbledon where she finished runner-up to Australian Ashleigh Barty. In 2022, she was unable to participate in the Australian swing of the season due to injury.
