Veronika Kudermetova was born on April 24, 1997, in Kazan, Russia. Her father, Eduard, is a former Russian national ice hockey champion, and her younger sister, Polina Kudermetova, is also a professional tennis player.

Kudermetova began playing tennis at age eight and is coached by her husband, Sergei Demekhine, a former ATP player. Off court, she enjoys cooking and is known for her specialty, roasted chicken with potatoes and garlic.

Junior Career

Kudermetova competed on the ITF Junior Circuit and quickly transitioned to the professional ranks, winning her first ITF singles title in 2014. She steadily climbed the rankings through strong performances on the ITF and WTA circuits.

Kudermetova made her WTA main-draw debut in doubles at the 2014 Kremlin Cup and in singles at the 2018 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. She broke into the top 100 in 2019 after winning the WTA 125K event in Guadalajara and reaching multiple WTA semifinals.
